Please join us Monday evening, Nov 16, 7 pm at the Marin Art and Garden Center, Ross. We are excited to host Susie Hodges as our next speaker. Her topic: LEARN HOW TO WEAVE OR CROCHET A BOA. Susie Hodges will demonstrate the simple leno weave method she used to make her “Ceremonial Boas” for the recent Richmond Art Center Members’ Showcase. If you wish to try this method yourself, bring a simple loom capable of plain weave threaded with 6 strong warp threads. For weft, bring more warp thread and whatever you wish to use for your pile inlay. Some suggestions for pile are mohair or other locks, thrums, ribbons, rags, and other sorts of soft flotsom & jetsom. Additional tools are scissors, a beater (butter knife) and possibly a small stick shuttle. If you wish to try the crocheted version of the boa bring yarn, pile wefts and a crochet hook appropriate for the grist of your yarn.
Also, plan on seeing our work in Sausalito at the Bay Model. The title of this year’s show is “Picks – New Weaving and Textile Art from the Tamalpais Weavers Guild.” Set-up will be Monday, November 23, and take-down is on January 4. Submitted work must be ready to hang. Anyone unable to take their work to the Bay Model may bring it to Joanne at the November 16 guild meeting.
