It is not too early to start planning your entries for the Galleries at CNCH 2012. Here are the descriptions of the four major display divisions. Watch this site for additional information about the galleries and the jurying process (and information about the fashion show). Every member of a CNCH guild is encouraged to submit entries, you do not have to attend the conference to enter a piece.
TRADITION INNOVATION
A general gallery of home décor, functional and decorative: Towels, rugs, blankets, wall hangings, curtains, napkins, placemats, table covers, etc. Handspun: Items may be woven, knitted or felted.
BASKETS, VESSELS AND SCULPTURE:
A three dimensional shape, made from natural, reclaimed, or unconventional materials that could carry or hold something, or perhaps a sculptural creation – a focal point on a wall, table or shelf, in or out of homes. We look forward to seeing traditional hand weaving techniques used to create both utilitarian and decorative art.
YARDAGE GALLERY
Weave a piece of yardage to be hung in the gallery. You can weave it with an idea of what it will be or decide later. Dimensions and requirements are forthcoming. We have cash prizes given to us by CNCH 2010 to be awarded to items made from yardage that was displayed at CNCH 2010. This will be part of the Yardage Gallery and may be fashion, upholstery, household items, etc. We look forward to seeing what you have created.
FASHION GALLERY
This gallery will have three components: (A) NECKWARE: A woven or knitted, sometimes felted item to keep us warm and perhaps add an accent to our clothing of the day. Circles, rectangles, long, not so long. (B) ACCESSORIES: Jewelry, gloves, headgear, shawls and such. (C) GARMENTS: Jackets, skirts, shirts, pants, etc. that you would like displayed but not in the FASHION SHOW.
