But they sure help a lot. Sheila O’Hara created fabulous works of art on her 16 harness loom. She stretched the inventiveness and complexity of that tool to an unbelievable degree. Then she had the opportunity to jump to a real jacquard loom and careened off the charts. Imagine no drafting rules, infinite possibilities, every warp end independently controlled. I would imagine a huge learning curve going from idea to draft to computer controlled lift plan, along with the traditional weaving activities of warping and throwing that shuttle around.
