Sheila O’Hara
Saturday, January 19, 2013 – 10 AM
Koret Auditorium, de Young Museum, San Francisco
Handweaving has become the lucky beneficiary of the computer age as the dream of individual thread control becomes more accessible. Handweavers, once thrilled with computer assisted dobby looms, are now searching out hand jacquard looms for exploration. Enjoy an informative and entertaining lecture about Sheila O’Hara’s textile art and its development from countermarche to compudobby to hand jacquard looms.
Sheila O’Hara is an acclaimed weaver specializing in jacquard-woven, one-of-a-kind tapestries. She has exhibited internationally and is represented in numerous private and institutional collections, including that of the Fine Arts Museums.
Textile Arts Council lectures are free to TAC members, $5 for museum members and students, $10 for non-members. Tickets available at the door. Cash or check please.
