In this workshop, you will learn to design and weave fabrics to make clothes that you love. The instructor will provide advice on choosing yarns, structures, patterns and colors as well as how to modify commercial sewing patterns for narrow widths, ideas for sampling and fabric calculations. Day one is primarily lecture, instruction and discussion. The second day requires prior thought as students will work on their actual design ideas meaning specific fabric/patterns (or general ideas). Students will learn to lay out the pattern, how to cut it or how to weave the appropriate fabric for a specific pattern. If a student does not have already woven fabric or a specific pattern, the class will discuss possibilities.
