The autumn solstice has passed us by, and it is finally feeling like fall! Earlier in the month we were treated to an aurora borealis display, and last week, a comet briefly passed by within our viewing.

I took an elderly friend up to Carson Pass and Hope Valley last week for some leaf-peeping. The aspens did not disappoint. With the unseasonably warm October, I was beginning to think it was Never-Ending Summer.
While we seem to have been spared a bad fire season (at least as of this writing on October 20), the eastern US has just been hammered by hurricanes spawned from record-breaking ocean temperatures. Keep our East Coast artisan friends in your thoughts as they face a lengthy, costly recovery
