Suzanne Sheffield Schwartzman Search

I received this query from Karen Inwood of Pacific Textile Art in Fort Bragg:

I received a request through member, Sheila O’Hara, from a NYC woman, Tamsen Young, who is searching for information about her mother, Suzanne Sheffield Schwartzman, who died last year at age 85.  Suzanne lived in San Francisco until 1984 where she taught and made fiber art.  She was a student (and friend) of the weaver Trude Guermonprez; a friend of Kay Sekimaki’s, and taught at Fort Mason.  Her daughter believes she was part of a group show at the De Young Museum around 1972-74 and had a solo exhibit in the Bay Area around that same time.  Starting around 1980 she attended The Art Institute for painting.

Tamsen and her sister are trying to find some historical information about their mother in order to produce a biography that includes some specific details about where she taught and exhibited.

I know some of our venerable members also wove and exhibited during the 1970’s and 80’s in the Bay Area and were friends with Kay Sekimachi and Trude Guermonprez.  If any of you can help with this research, please contact Tamsen Young at tamsen01@gmail.com

Thank you!
