CNCH 2023 San Luis Obispo Report
Lee Bergman
The instructors at CNCH were wonderful. There were sixteen instructors in total teaching a wide variety of classes including weaving, spinning, felting, and dyeing, something for everyone. I took Double Weave, Double Rainbow with Jennifer Moore. Her video on winding the warp made it look so easy. It took me three tries to get it right, but it was so worth it.
In class she was very helpful, her explanations were clear, and it was magic to see the different colors appear as you wove the cloth creating stripes, squares, and rectangles on the surfaces and pockets in between. Intertwining the layers created a totally different effect that weaving them separate creating endless possibilities. When you flipped over the cloth it is a whole different look.
As good as the classes were, it was even better to catch up with old friends in person, ZOOM meetings are not the same as getting together in the same room. It also gave me the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
CNCH 2024 is coming up in April 2024 at the Doubletree hotel in Rohnert Park. They have a great list of instructors. I am looking forward to once again seeing old friends and new.
