Spring has arrived here on the West Slope — trees bursting with the promise of juicy summer peaches and figs; birds joyously singing as if their hearts will burst. The vast array of green in the early morning light is mind blowing. After a very long winter, let’s make some joyful, creative art!
And how do you stimulate your creativity? Is it a gene? Do we all have it? How do you turn on your creative self? At a recent presentation to the National Art Educators Association, creativity was the topic. According to presenter Andrea Slusarski, she recommends incorporating visual journaling into your daily habit. “But like committing to a workout routine at the gym, making a commitment to your creative practice is, well, work.” (Journal Notes, NAEA Presentation, ASlu, 2023.)
