Eighteen months from now, Bob Darchi and I will have completed our stint as Co-Chairs of CNCH 2022. It seems more manageable looking at the task as fait acompli. Certainly, there are difficult days ahead, but with perseverance and mentors, the job will get done. The chair has the responsibility of designing the program, leading by example, delegating and trusting committees to succeed, reassuring that it can be accomplished, having faith, and keeping up morale. A portion of planning is filling all the positions it takes to get the conference done. Each month we have been fortunate to acquire a new volunteer: starting in January 2021, the need to fill the remainder of our positions will become more critical. All of the parts need a timeline to plan and accomplish if we are to have a full fun experience. Besides finding teachers in our respective fields and a few cross overs for us to enjoy, there is a fun(d) raiser to support the grant fund for the membership, a gallery to show off the art of weaving. The bread and butter of a conference is the extremely necessary position of Registration Chair. Publicity, Art, and Printing, Goody Bags, Liaison Luncheon, Volunteer Coordination, all have to be done, too.
Not everyone who volunteers needs to lead. There are openings for helpers too. Be part of this event, as a member of Area 3 of the Conference of Northern California Handweavers, the sponsors of the conference in 2022.
The Conference will be held in the San Francisco Bay Area in May of 2022.
Here is my pitch to you. Ask not…….of others, what you will not do yourself. Are you doing all you can for your organization? It is a volunteer organization, you get out what you put in. Contact Bob Darchi, bobdarchi@yahoo.com or me, egwathney@aol.com to join our effort. I can send you information about the various positions. Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
