The dismal weather we have been experiencing in Central and Northern California for the last few months has, of course, been a godsend by eradicating our drought BUT all the wind, rain, floods, mud and slate grey skies have had me thinking about the bright colors in our future.
The indoor time has made me look through my stash and the go to the internet to find what color combos are being touted as the next great combination. Here are some possibilities to think about:
These photos and many others were found at Vogue Colour Trends Spring/Summer 2017. I don’t know about you but I know that I no longer have the body to wear these or a place to go to show them off. These are runway pieces that are out there pushing the envelope on what the next fashion breakthrough will be. However, I do find them stimulating to my color sense.
The Emporio Armani features orange/red paired with lavender and has turquoise highlights in the blouse. It makes me want to see if I could put those colors together and make it work. The Emilio Pucci dress in lavender and yellow is a classic color combination but he upped the pizazz by combining a soft and flowing fabric with a stiff and shiny one. And the Versace ensemble highlights a classic color combination of hard red and black. What makes it pop are the sleeves which seem to be a slouchy fabric in a soft blush of blue/lavender.
There are oodles of places on the internet to to find inspiration. Start with Pantone , which is the main arbiter of colors for the near future.
Then Look at CMG color, another group that issues color forecasts. There are many sites featuring designers and fashion, and of course, there is pinterest . Use the internet to help you design your next show piece.
