Learn something new at our Make It and Take It learning center. These short learning opportunities will be available to both full conference attendees and visitors to the Market Place. Several vendors will also be offering demonstrations. A full schedule of these demonstrations will be available at the conference. The Make It and Take It sessions are casual, friendly, no reservations required sessions. Drop in anytime during the scheduled times and give it a try. Encourage your curious friends who may come for the day to try something new!

Finger loop braiding |
|
Loop braiding is an off-loom, no-equipment technique for braiding beautiful cords and bands, using yarn or thread doubled into loops and held at the ends of the loops. It is faster and more efficient than free-end braiding, or braiding on a kumihimo card. Adults and older children can learn it easily. The basic moves can be used to make many types of braids—square, flat, round, triangular and more, with a wide range of patterning possibilities.

Lynn Haris will have a Saori loom warped to weave “Omoi no katachi” (Thinking of You) scarves to benefit individual victim of the earthquake/tsunami and also Japanese SAORI studios that were damaged. Join in with the weaving and learn more about the Saori approach to weaving. |

Try your hand at a small weaving project. We will have 6 Cricket looms warped for simple projects (like coasters, mug rugs, bookmarks, pot holders, or narrow scarves). You can weave a small project, cut it off the loom, and take it proudly home. One loom will be set up for sampling only (no take away). |
